The upper trough is expected to move off the east coast later in the day. Scattered showers and possible moderate falls will continue along the tropical east coast in the moist onshore wind flow, more isolated about the southeast and adjacent inland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over remaining parts of the tropics and developing in the Channel Country. Fine through most of the interior with only very isolated showers through the Central West. Forecast for Friday The high over the southern Tasman Sea combined with the trough over the northern Coral Sea will maintain moderate to fresh SE to NE winds across the state, strong on the east coast between about Cardwell and St Lawrence. Scattered showers will continue about the tropical east coast, again isolated about the southeast and adjacent inland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about Cape York Peninsula and the Gulf of Carpentaria coast, tending scattered in far western districts as a new upper trough approaches from the west. Forecast for Saturday The high will continue to weaken over the southern Tasman Sea while the trough and low over the northern Coral Sea will deepen further. Moderate SE to NE winds across the state, fresh along the east coast and tending N'ly in the southwest ahead of an approaching surface trough. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about Cape York Peninsula, tending scattered through much of western Queensland under the influence of the new upper trough. Fine about the southeast interior and isolated showers about the remainder, tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Forecast for Sunday The high will weaken and move over New Zealand while a tropical low will strengthen near Vanuatu. Moderate SE to E winds along the east coast, tending E to NE about the eastern inland and moderate S'ly west of a surface trough moving into central western Queensland. Isolated showers generally about the east coast and adjacent inland. Scattered showers and thunderstorms through most western districts. Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday The high will remain slow moving over the Tasman Sea and continue to weaken, while the low pressure system over the northern Coral Sea will most likely move east or southeast away from Queensland and continue to deepen. Fresh E to SE winds will continue along the east coast, tending NE to NW over the interior ahead of the surface trough over western Queensland. This trough will dominate Queensland's weather during the outlook period, with the band of showers and thunderstorms over western Queensland moving east and reaching the eastern interior on Monday.
