MELBOURNE - Nov 23/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Final Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River at Corowa. Minor Flood Warning for the Warrego River at Fords Bridge Bywash. Minor Flood Warning for the Paroo River at Willara Crossing. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Port Stephens and Gabo Island. Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-218* or through some TV and radio broadcasts. Weather Situation A stationary high over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast. This high is expected to remain in the region for the next few days, while a trough over central Australia gradually approaches from the west. This trough should reach the southwest corner of the state late Wednesday, then continuing to central parts by the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Isolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, and the chance of afternoon showers in the northwest. Late showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the southwest. Fine elsewhere. North to northeast winds. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers about the north coast and adjacent ranges. Patchy rain in the west, increasing in the far southwest with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds. Forecast for Friday Isolated showers in the northeast. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the west, with patchy rain extending to the southeast later. Northeast to northwest winds. Forecast for Saturday Areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over most of the inland, extending to the southeast later. Isolated showers on the north coast clearing and fine over the remainder of the northeast. Northeast to northeast winds, turning southwesterly in the far west during the day.
