MELBOURNE - Nov 19/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-218* or through some TV and radio broadcasts. Weather Situation A weak low lies off the northern New South Wales coast while a ridge of high pressure strengthens from the west, bringing relatively cool southeasterly winds across the region. This ridge will remain over the state into next week, with winds gradually turning warmer northerly as an associated high builds over the Tasman Sea. This high is expected to remain the dominant feature throughout the coming week, thereby preventing any significant frontal systems from moving into New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of Friday Scattered showers about the northern coast and adjacent ranges, and the chance of showers or thunderstorms about the western slopes. Fine elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds. Forecast for Saturday Isolated showers in the northeast, scattered at first along the coast. The chance of afternoon showers about the far northern inland. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds. Forecast for Sunday Isolated showers about the northern coast. Afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms developing in the far southeast, and over the northwest inland. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast wind. Forecast for Monday Isolated showers about the northern coast and over the northwest inland. Fine elsewhere. East to northeast winds. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers in the northeast. Fine Elsewhere. East to northeast winds. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday. * Calls to 1300 numbers cost around 27.5c incl. GST, higher from mobiles or public phones.
