stationary over the interior.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday

southeast interior and merging into rain areas overnight with possible moderate
falls. Thundery rain also over the Channel Country. Isolated showers and about
the east coast and adjacent inland, tending scattered about the North Tropical

towards the Southeast Coast. Light to moderate NE to NW winds over the eastern
interior, shifting moderate S'ly to the west of a surface trough in the
southwest.
Forecast for Wednesday
The upper level trough over western Queensland is forecast to intensify and
move east, also moving the surface trough east. Early patchy rain over the
eastern and southern interior will clear with showers and thunderstorms to
follow over central and eastern inland parts in the afternoon. Thunderstorm
activity will increase over the eastern and SE interior in the afternoon near
the surface trough, merging into thundery rain overnight with moderate to
locally heavy falls. Isolated showers along the east coast south of Bowen. The
surface trough will extend from the Gulf Country into the southeastern interior,
with light to moderate NE to NW winds ahead of the trough, shifting cooler S to
SE behind the trough.
Forecast for Thursday
The upper level trough will form into an upper low over the southwest and
this will increase the weather across southern Queensland. Showers and
thunderstorms generally over the tropics, extending through eastern districts
and tending to thundery rain areas with moderate to locally heavy falls over
southern and eastern Queensland, though easing to scattered showers about the
far southeast coast. Isolated showers over the Central West district, tending
fine over the west of the state. Light to moderate NE to NW winds over eastern
Queensland, tending moderate to fresh S to SE in the west.

The upper level trough moves south into N.S.W and weakens. The surface trough
slows over eastern districts with rain areas and isolated thunderstorms with
moderate to locally heavy falls again over the eastern and southeast districts.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms to extend north into the North Tropical
Coast and isolated showers and thunderstorms over Cape York Peninsula. Fine in
the west. Mostly light to moderate SE to NE winds along the east coast, tending
S to SE in the west.
Forecast for Saturday
A new broad upper trough sits over western Queensland while the surface
trough sits through the eastern inland. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms about the tropics, the east coast and adjacent inland. Isolated
afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms about the southern interior.
Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
A high is forecast to build over southeastern Australia on Saturday and push
into the Tasman Sea on Sunday. As a result SE winds will freshen along the east
coast. A broad upper trough will slowly intensify over western Queensland and
move east into the new week. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms
generally about the eastern half of Queensland with mostly fine conditions in
the west.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Wednesday.
