Forecast for Thursday
An upper trough will remain over western Queensland while the high in the
Tasman Sea remains slow moving and will continue to direct moderate to fresh SE

Showers and thunderstorms will therefore continue through much of western
Queensland, spreading into the southeast interior. Rain areas and local thunder

the high in the Tasman Sea remains slow moving and will continue to direct
moderate to fresh SE to NE winds along the east coast, with moderate N to NE

with isolated showers and thunderstorms over most inland parts, tending to
isolated afternoon showers about the southeast interior and fine in the far
west. Isolated showers about the east coast, increasing to rain areas with local
thunder and possible moderate falls about northeastern parts between Cairns and
Mackay, and inland to through Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders
district.
Forecast for Saturday
A new upper trough over central Australia is forecast to move east towards
our western border while the high in the Tasman Sea remains slow moving and will
continue to direct moderate to fresh SE to NE winds along the east coast, with
moderate NW to NE winds inland. Conditions will remain unstable with scattered
showers and thunderstorms over much of the interior, tending fine over the
southeast interior. Isolated showers about the east coast and adjacent inland in
moist onshore winds.
Forecast for Sunday
The upper trough is forecast to remain over western Queensland while the high
in the Tasman Sea remains slow moving and will continue to direct moderate to
fresh SE to NE winds along the east coast, with moderate NW to NE winds inland
ahead of a S'ly change in the far southwest. Isolated showers to remain along
the east coast and adjacent inland, tending scattered in the north. Mostly
scattered showers and thunderstorms through western Queensland and into the
tropics though remaining mostly fine about the southeast interior.
Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
The upper trough will move slowly into central Queensland and weaken while SE
to NE winds and showers remain about the east coast and adjacent inland. A
surface trough will remain slow moving in western Queensland and trigger
scattered showers and thunderstorms through most inland parts, though mostly
fine conditions to remain in a more stable atmosphere through the southeast
interior.
