Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 7/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

STATE FORECAST
for Monday night and Tuesday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over most of the interior, increasing to
scattered about the Channel Country, the Maranoa & Warrego and parts of the
Northwest. Isolated showers about the east coast, tending scattered about the
Wide Bay & Capricornia coasts and increasing to rain at times about the Central
Coast. Moderate to fresh SE to E winds over the tropics, decreasing down the
east coast. Light to moderate NE winds over the interior, tending SW'ly in the
far southwest.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Wednesday: An upper level trough and low will move into northwest Qld. This will
concentrate thunderstorms over the NW of the state with just very isolated
activity in the remaining west. Becoming mostly fine over the south and
southeast of the state with just very isolated showers near the coast. Showers
continuing along the east coast north of Fraser Island and tending to rain at
times about the tropical coast. Moderate to fresh SE to E winds along most of
the east coast, shifting E to NE along the southern coast. Moderate N to NE
winds inland.
Thursday: Thunderstorms and rain areas will persist over the northwest of the
state with isolated afternoon showers through the central interior and towards
the east coast. Frequent showers and rain areas will persist on the tropical
coast. Mostly fine across the south of the state with just very isolated showers
near the coast. Moderate to fresh SE to E winds along most of the east coast,
shifting lighter E to NE along the southern coast. Moderate N to NE winds
inland.
Friday: The upper low will begin to slip south over inland Qld. Showers,
thunderstorms and rain areas will be concentrated over north central and
northeast parts of the state with some moderate to heavy falls possible,
particularly near the tropical east coast. Very isolated shower activity in the
southeast and fine over the southern inland and southwest. Moderate to fresh SE
to E winds along most of the east coast, shifting lighter E to NE along the
southern coast. Light to moderate NE winds inland.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday: The upper low will continue to move
southeast and weaken over southern Qld during Saturday. A new upper trough will
move into Central Australia. The area of showers, storms and rain over northern
parts will weaken, though moderate to heavy falls are still possible about the
Central Coast on Saturday. A new upper trough with an associated rain and storm
band will move into western areas of the state late on Saturday, moving slowly
east on Sunday and Monday. Moderate to heavy falls are possible over western Qld
during this period. Isolated showers will continue along the east coast, chiefly
north of Fraser Island.
