Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 6/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

IDQ1070001
WARNING SUMMARY
Nil.
STATE FORECAST
for Sunday night and Monday
Isolated showers and thunderstorms over western Cape York Peninsula, the
north-west and over much of the west of the state. Isolated afternoon showers
over the eastern interior. Isolated showers continuing along much of the east
coast and increasing about the Central Coast during Monday. Some rain areas
developing about the central coast late on Monday. Light to moderate NE winds
over the interior. Moderate to fresh E/SE winds along most of the east coast.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Tuesday: A developing upper level trough over western QLD will increase the
thunderstorm activity in the west as a new surface trough enters the Channel
Country. Very isolated afternoon showers over eastern districts. Some rain areas
continuing about the central coast. Winds will freshen about the east coast as
the southern high intensifies.
Wednesday: The upper level trough will develop further into a low and move north
into the Gulf region. This will concentrate thunderstorms over the NW of the
state. The surface trough in the west stalls and weakens. Becoming fine over the
south and SE of the state. Showers continuing along the east coast north of
Fraser Island and tending to rain at times about the North Tropical Coast.
Moderate to fresh SE/E winds along the east coast shifting NE inland.
Thursday: Showers and storms will continue over the north-west and most of the
northern tropics of the state due to the upper low over the Northern Territory.
Isolated showers will continue along most of the east coast north of Fraser
Island and tend to rain at times about the north tropical coast. Fine elsewhere
over the state. Moderate to fresh SE/E winds along the most of the east coast
shifting NE inland.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday: The upper low will move into Qld again
during Thursday and decay over western Qld during Friday and Saturday as a new
upper trough moves into Central Australia. So the area showers, storms and rain
with some moderate falls will move into central areas of the state on Friday and
then weaken on Saturday. However, a new rain and storm band with some moderate
ton heavy falls, generated by the new upper trough, will move into western areas
of the state late Saturday. Isolated trade showers will continue along the east
coast north of Fraser Island initially and then become confined to the coast
north of Yeppoon by Saturday.
