Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 4/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

STATE FORECAST
for the rest of Friday and Saturday
Isolated showers generally over the eastern half of the state with isolated
afternoon thunderstorms over Cape York Peninsular and over the SE and central
region. Fine over the west of the state. Thunderstorm activity will extend a
little further west during Saturday afternoon over the Central Highlands and the
Maranoa district otherwise little change over the rest of the state for
Saturday. Moderate to fresh SE winds across the tropics, light to moderate SE
winds further south, tending NE'ly over the interior.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Sunday: The high will move further east over the Tasman Sea while a new trough
will enter central Australia. A new upper level trough will develop west of QLD
and this will increase the instability over the interior. This will extend the
thunderstorm activity further west while decreasing over eastern districts.
Little change in the tropics.
Monday: Further development of the upper level trough to the west will increase
thunderstorm activity over most of the interior. Thundery rain will develop in
the SW as a new surface trough enters the state with a S'ly wind change.
Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: The upper level trough in the west
develops into a low on Tuesday and moves into the tropics. Showers about the
east coast, thunderstorms and patchy rain in the west. By Wednesday, the upper
level low moves into the Gulf region with rain areas and thunderstorms. Rain
areas and thunderstorms extending south also, into the Channel Country. Showers
over eastern districts. By Thursday, rain and thunderstorms now concentrated
over the NW of the state with showers about the east coast. Rain areas also
developing over the southern tropics.
