Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 3/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

IDQ1070001
WARNING SUMMARY
A strong wind warning has been issued for coastal waters between Bowen and
Burnett Heads for this afternoon.
The strong wind warning for coastal waters between Sandy Cape and Double Island
Point for Friday morning has been cancelled.
STATE FORECAST
for the rest of Thursday and Friday
Rain areas with moderate falls and local thunder over the southern Capricornia,
Wide Bay and Southeast coast districts, easing to showers with local thunder on
Friday. Patchy rain areas over the central coast and northern Capricornia,
easing to isolated showers later today. Showers and isolated thunderstorms over
northern districts and through the central interior, more widespread through far
northern Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers and possible afternoon
thunderstorms over the southeast interior. Fine in the west. Cool daytime
temperatures over most of the state, particularly through the interior. Moderate
to fresh S to SE winds through western Queensland and over the tropical east
coast. SE winds strengthening along the central and Capricorn coast later today
before easing on Friday. Light to moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Saturday: A high will move east into the Tasman Sea, extending moderate to fresh
SE winds over the east coast of Queensland. An upper trough will persist in the
southeast, causing isolated showers to become scattered in the afternoon with
possible local thunder through the Southeast Coast and Wide Bay districts.
Isolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms through the southeastern
and central interior. Scattered showers and thunderstorms continuing through
northern Cape York Peninsula. Mostly fine conditions about the remaining east
coast and through the northern interior with only isolated showers expected.
Fine in the west.
Sunday: The high will move further east over the Tasman Sea while a new trough
will enter central Australia. Unstable conditions will develop over much of the
state ahead of this trough, with isolated afternoon showers and possible
thunderstorms through the northern, central and southeastern interior, again
more scattered through northern Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers along the
east coast in the moist onshore wind flow. A patchy cloud band associated with
the trough will enter far southwestern Queensland late in the day though with
little or no rain.
Monday: The trough will enter far western Queensland, with instability
increasing further across the state. Showers and isolated afternoon
thunderstorms over much of the state, particularly through the southern and
eastern interior. Isolated showers becoming more scattered about the east coast
as winds tends more E'ly.
Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: A high will remain near stationary
southeast of New Zealand. Some uncertainty exists with the movement of the
trough but at this stage the most likely scenario is for the trough to remain
anchored through western parts of the state with unstable conditions and a band
of showers and thunderstorms persisting to its east and becoming focused on
northern and central parts of the state from Thursday.
