MELBOURNE - Nov 1/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY A strong wind warning has been issued for southeast Gulf of Carpentaria waters. STATE FORECAST for Monday night and Tuesday Patchy rain in the south and east, contracting east and easing overnight. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the east today, tending scattered in the southern inland. Showers and thunderstorms to contract to the northern and eastern tropics on Tuesday. Scattered showers with possible moderate falls about the Central Coast and adjacent areas on Tuesday. Fine in the west. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over eastern districts becoming fresh at times about the east tropical coast and strong in the southeast Gulf on Tuesday morning. Moderate to fresh SW to SE winds in the west. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Wednesday: An upper trough is forecast to develop over northern Queensland bringing rain areas to the north. Isolated showers and thunderstorms through the northern and eastern tropics, north of about St Lawrence. Moderate E'ly winds will bring isolated showers to the southeast coast. Elsewhere moderate S to SE winds over much of the state, fresh about the coast in the north. Thursday: An upper trough will move east over northern Queensland with rain areas contracting to eastern districts north of about Fraser Island. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, easing to showers about the southeast coast. Mostly moderate to fresh S to SE winds, possibly strong about the Capricornia coast. Friday: The upper trough and rainband will move off the east coast. A high over Tasmania will bring fresh SE winds and showers to the east coast. An inland trough will trigger inland showers and thunderstorms in the east, chiefly about the southeast interior. Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday: A high in the Tasman Sea will maintain fresh to strong SE to E winds and showers along the east coast. The inland trough will move over western Queensland and trigger inland showers and thunderstorms, becoming more active as the next upper trough approaches western Queensland on Sunday.
