MELBOURNE - Oct 31/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Murrumbidgee River Downstream of Darlington Point. Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River at Albury and Corowa. Moderate Flood Warning for the Barwon River at Mungindi. Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River Upstream of Lake Hume. Severe thunderstorm warning for the Hunter forecast districts Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Port Macquarie and Gabo Island. Weather Situation A low centred over Tasmania extends a trough northwards to Queensland. with an upper cold pool and upper trough located further westwards over Victoria .The surface trough will move slowly eastwards to be over the NSW coast Monday evening, while the upper trough is expected to persist over southeastern Australia during most of the week. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected ahead of the surface trough today and tomorrow in the northeast, with a lesser chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms developing under the upper feature . A low is expected to form off the NSW central or south coast Monday night. This should to result in strengthening southerly winds along the coastal waters in these parts, and to rain or scattered showers developing about parts of the southern half of the coast and the adjacent tablelands. Showery conditions are expected over much of the eastern half of the state during the week under the influence of the persistent upper trough. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeastern third of the state, but remaining fine in the far northeast. Isolated showers over the southern inland Fine over the remainder. Northwest to northeast winds in the east. West o Southwest winds in the west. Forecast for Monday Fine and mostly sunny in the northwest. Scattered showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the northeast. Scattered showers along the remaining coast and the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms over the remainder. Northerly winds in the northeast, with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds over the inland and a fresh south to southeasterly change extending along the coast. Forecast for Tuesday Scattered showers or rain periods during the morning about the southern half of the coast and the adjacent ranges, easing to isolated showers in the afternoon. Isolated showers along the remaining coast, with the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms about the Northern Rivers district. The chance of isolated showers developing in the afternoon about the southwestern border. South to southwest winds. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers in northeast and along the coast. The chance of isolated showers across the remaining southern districts. Mostly sunny over the remainder. South to southwest winds over the inland. Northeast to southeast winds along the coast.. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers over the eastern half of the state. Mostly sunny in the west. East to southeast winds.
