MELBOURNE - Oct 30/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River at Albury and Corowa. Moderate Flood Warning for the Barwon River at Mungindi. Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River Upstream of Lake Hume. Severe weather warning for damaging winds for the Snowy Mountains forecast district. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Port Macquarie and Gabo Island. Weather Situation A low centred over Victoria extends a trough across inland New South Wales and Queensland. The trough is expected to move slowly towards the Tasman Sea today and Monday, closely followed by a cold front. Rain across the southern inland will ease to showers as the system progresses east, with thunderstorms contracting to the northeast of the state by this evening as cooler air moves across from the west. Showery conditions are likely to remain over southern and eastern districts early in the new week under the influence of an upper level trough. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Fine and partly cloudy in the northwest and on the north coast. Areas of rain over the southern inland, easing to showers in the afternoon. Showers over the remainder, with isolated thunderstorms in the eastern half, chiefly in the afternoon. Northeast to northwest winds in the east. Cooler west to southwest winds spreading through the west and south. Forecast for Monday Fine though partly cloudy in the west. Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms over the northeast, except for the far north coast. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered along the coast. Northerly winds in the northeast, with west to southwesterly winds elsewhere. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers over the southern border districts and along the coast and ranges, tending scattered in the far northeast. Southwest to southeast winds. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers in the southeast. Mostly sunny over the remainder. Southwest to southeast winds.
