MELBOURNE - Oct 29/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Nil. STATE FORECAST for Saturday Showers and isolated thunderstorms continuing about the Gulf Country and western Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers about the north-east tropical coast. Patchy light rain and isolated thunderstorms over the west this morning extending trough central districts this afternoon. Becoming fine over the SW region in the afternoon with SW'ly wind change. Fine over the eastern half of QLD. Warm N to NE winds over the interior ahead of the cooler SW'ly wind change in the west. Moderate E to SE winds elsewhere. UPDATED EXTENDED OUTLOOK Sunday: The surface trough in the west will reach the eastern interior with a narrow band of early patchy rain then afternoon showers and thunderstorms, extending from the Gulf to the western Darling Downs. Dry and cooler over the west with S'ly winds and fine to the east with N/NE winds. Isolated showers about the NE tropical coast and the central coast. Monday: The surface trough will move into eastern districts with again a narrow band of early patchy rain and afternoon isolated showers and thunderstorms that will just get into western parts of the SE coast in the evening. Dry over the interior. Thunderstorms over the western half of Cape York Peninsular and showers over eastern parts. Strong SE winds will develop over southern Gulf waters as the trough moves through. Tuesday: The surface trough will move slowly into the Burnett region while stall over the eastern Darling Downs. Meanwhile a secondary trough will move through the SE coast from N.S.W and will increase the thunderstorm activity over the SE coast. For the rest of the state showers and thunderstorms generally in a band from the tropics through the central coast to the SE. Strong SE winds again over southern Gulf waters. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. A developing upper level trough over western QLD will induce a surface trough off the east coast, which will in turn deepen into a east coast low near the southern tropics or off the central coast on Thursday. This depression will move SE and deepen. Through this period a rain band will form off the east coast and intensify with heavier rain near the depression. Light rain or showers will spread SE over the eastern interior through this time.
