MELBOURNE - Oct 28/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point and Downstream. Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River at Corowa. Flood Watch for the Murrumbidgee Valley and Murray River Downstream of Hume Dam This Weekend. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Montague Island and Gabo Island. Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to eastern New South Wales. A trough will move over the west of the state later on Friday. The trough it will deepen into a low on Saturday before moving over the Tasman Sea by Monday. Widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected in most districts on Saturday and Sunday easing during Monday. Forecast for the rest of Friday Isolated clearing showers on the north coast. Patchy rain developing in the west late in the day. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Freshening northwest to northeast winds ahead of a colder southwesterly change in the far southwest overnight. Forecast for Saturday Partly cloudy in the northeast. Rain areas and possibly thunderstorms extending northeastwards over the remainder of the state but easing in the far west later. Fresh northwest to northeast winds ahead of a colder gusty west to southwesterly change in the west. Forecast for Sunday Partly cloudy in the northwest and on the north coast. Areas of rain elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms in the eastern half. Fresh northeast to northwest winds in the east. Colder southwest winds spreading through the inland. Forecast for Monday Partly cloudy in the northern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Southwest to northwest winds.
