MELBOURNE - Oct 25/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Murrumbidgee River at Narrandera and Downstream. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Warrego River. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Barwon River at Mungindi. Severe thunderstorm warning for the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast and Northern Tablelands forecast districts Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Broken Bay and Port Kembla. Weather Situation A low pressure trough over the northwestern Tasman Sea is bringing showers to New South Wales northern half of the coast. The trough will weaken on Tuesday as high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the north coast and showers will clear. The high will move rapidly towards New Zealand during Wednesday and Thursday maintaining the ridge to the north coast. A cold front is expected to move through the state during Friday and Saturday bringing rain to most districts. Forecast for the rest of Monday Scattered showers with the chance of thunderstorms on the north coast and adjacent ranges,. The chance of showers on the western slopes of the far southern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to southwest winds. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated light showers on the north coast contracting further north. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds tending west to northwest in the south. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers on the south coast and on adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwest winds tending north to northwest on the north coast. Forecast for Thursday Isolated coastal showers clearing from the south. Partly cloudy on and east of the ranges, mostly sunny remaining. Southeast to northeast winds. Forecast for Friday Isolated clearing showers on the north coast. Patchy rain developing in the west later,. Partly cloudy eelsewhere Northwest to northeast winds ahead of southwesterly change in the far southwest overnight.
