MELBOURNE - Oct 20/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the the Macintyre River at Boggabilla and Downstream. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Murrumbidgee River at Wagga Wagga and Downstream. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Warrego River. Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-218* or through some TV and radio broadcasts. Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southwestern Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the Northern Territory, while a weak low pressure trough is deepening over the northeastern inland with isolated showers and thunderstorms developing there this afternoon and evening. The trough will weaken during Friday as a the high moves towards New Zealand and a cold front approaches from the west. The front, preceded by patchy rain, showers and possibly thunderstorms, is expected to move across the state during Friday and Saturday, followed by a high pressure ridge on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Isolated showers and thunderstorms over central and northeastern parts. Mostly sunny elsewhere. East to northeast winds in the east, freshening along the southern half of the coast, and tending light and variable inland. Forecast for Friday Isolated showers and thunderstorms on the western slopes of the central and northern ranges. Cloud increasing in the far southwest and patchy rain developing in the evening. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds ahead a southwesterly change in the far southwest late evening. Forecast for Saturday Mostly sunny day in the northeast with cloud increasing later. Patchy rain increasing to rain areas along the southern border, and extending through the remainder from the southwest with possible thunderstorms. North to northwest winds tending westerly ahead of a moderate to fresh cooler southwesterly change , extending trough most of the state. Forecast for Sunday Mostly sunny in the far southwest. Patchy rain elsewhere contracting to the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds extending throughout.
