Weather Situation
Shower activity on the ranges and western slopes left in a wake of the recent cold front is expected to weaken and contract to the far southern inland by tomorrow as a drier air mass moves into the region. A high pressure system is expected to extend a ridge across the state during Sunday, promoting mostly fine conditions as it becomes the dominant synoptic feature for the new week. On Tuesday a combination of developing onshore airstream and a trough over northern inland could generate showers for most of the coast and adjacent ranges.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Isolated showers on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges. Showers falling as snow down to 1100 metres in the far south. Mostly fine elsewhere. Cool to cold fresh to strong west to southwest winds, gradually easing tonight.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers about the far southern inland, falling as snow on the Alps at first. Fine elsewhere. West to southwest winds.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers on the far southern slopes of the western ranges. Fine elsewhere. Mostly west to southwest winds
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers along the coast, tending scattered about central parts. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered in the far northeast. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.
