Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 14/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
1. Flood warnings are current for the Barcoo, Lower Condamine, Balonne and
Brisbane Rivers.
2. Sheep Grazier warning current for the Channel Country, Warrego and Maranoa,
Darling Downs and Granite Belt Districts.
STATE FORECAST
for Thursday night and Friday
Showers about the east coast north of Fraser Island, tending more scattered
between Bowen and Cairns. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north and
west, Thundery rain in the southwest, extending to the east coast during Friday.
Moderate falls are possible with this rain over southern districts. Moderate to
fresh SE to NE winds about the east coast, tending NE to NW inland and shifting
fresh and cooler SW'ly from the west during Friday. N'ly winds increasing to
strong about the southeast coast on Friday.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Saturday: The remaining rain band will clear much of the east coast early,
contracting to the southern tropics and easing during the day. Showers and
thunderstorms remaining further north with scattered showers about the North
Tropical Coast. Dry over the remainder of the state and cool to cold in the
south. Strong SE winds in the southern Gulf and strong SW winds about the east
coast south of St Lawrence early following the wind change.
Sunday: Clear and cool over western and southern Queensland. Isolated
thunderstorms over Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending
scattered with a little light rain about the North Tropical Coast. Light to
moderate S to SE winds, fresh about the coast north of Mackay and strong about
the southern Gulf in the morning.
The outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: Cool and fine conditions
continuing in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms generally about the
northern tropics. Isolated showers to return to the east coast on Tuesday. A new
rainband developing on Wednesday in the northwest ahead of the next upper
trough.
