Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 12/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
1. Flood warnings are current for the Barcoo, Lower Condamine, Balonne, Mary,
Stanley, Brisbane and Weir Rivers.
2. Severe weather warning for dangerous surf about the Southeast Coast has been
cancelled.
3. A strong wind warning has been issued for remaining waters between Cardwell
and St Lawrence.
STATE FORECAST
for Wednesday
Showers generally about the east coast, tending occasional on the central coast.
Isolated showers generally over the eastern interior. Fine over the SE interior.
A little thundery rain developing over the SW of the state. Showers generally
over the tropics and some isolated late thunderstorms about the SW Gulf coast. .
Moderate to fresh and E to SE winds about the east coast, strong and gusty about
the central coast. Moderate NE winds over the interior.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Thursday: The high will persist over the Tasman Sea region but continue to
weaken, easing winds about the east coast. Thundery rain extending across
southern and western districts with a S'ly wind change. Showers and
thunderstorms generally over the NW region. Isolated showers over most of the
interior, increasing towards the east coast. Fine over the SE region.
Friday: The thundery rainband will enter the NW and the SE of the state while
clear the Channel Country. The surface wind change will also extend into the
southern Gulf and reach the SE coast in the evening. Thunderstorms generally
north of the rain band.
Saturday: The remaining rain band will clear the southern tropics early. Showers
and thunderstorms remaining further north. Dry over the remainder of the state,
cool in the south. Strong SE winds in the southern Gulf and strong SW winds
about the central and SE coat early following the wind change.
The outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday: The winds through most of the state
will become S/SE during Sunday, with showers returning to much of the coast
early in the week. Isolated showers to return to eastern inland areas by
Tuesday. Isolated thunderstorms in the far north.
