Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 10/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
1. Flood warnings are current for the Weir, Upper Barcoo and Condamine Rivers.
2. Flood warning for coastal streams from the Sunshine Coast to the NSW border
including adjacent Hinterland streams.
3. A severe weather warning is current for the Southeast Coast district.
4. A gale warning is current for coastal waters between Sandy Cape and Point
Danger, including Moreton Bay.
5. A strong wind warning has been issued for coastal waters between St. Lawrence
and Burnett Heads.
6. A strong wind warning has been issued for Hervey Bay waters.
STATE FORECAST
for Monday
Rain areas with moderate to heavy falls over the Southeast Coast district,
easing during the day. Isolated showers elsewhere along the east coast,
increasing to rain areas between Rockhampton and Sunshine Coast in the evening.
Some early drizzle areas over the southern and SE interior, tending to rain
areas over the Darling Downs and eastern Warrego and Maranoa districts in the
afternoon. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the tropical and
central interior. Some patchy light rain areas over the tropical and central
districts clearing in the morning. Moderate to fresh and E to SE winds, strong
and gusty along the far southern coast and adjacent ranges.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Tuesday: The large high over the Tasman Sea maintains a firm ridge along the
east Queensland coast with fresh to strong SE winds and showers, more widespread
about the Central, Capricornia and Wide Bay coasts with possible moderate falls.
Isolated afternoon showers over the tropical, central and southern interior.
Wednesday: The high over the Tasman Sea will weaken a little but still maintain
a firm ridge along most of the east Queensland coast with moderate to fresh SE
winds. Showers about the east coast, tending more widespread over the tropics
and Central Coast. Isolated afternoon showers over the interior.
Thursday: The high will persist over the Tasman Sea region but continue to
weaken with E to SE winds and some showers about the east coast. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms over the western interior and border areas as another
trough system amplifies over South Australia late in the day. Thundery rain
areas developing over the Channel Country in the evening.
The outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday: The ridge from the high over the
Tasman Sea weakens out. The trough system over western Queensland and the
associated band of rain and storms extends from the northwest to southeast,
before clearing the east coast during Saturday night.
