MELBOURNE - Oct 9/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY 1. Flood warnings are current for the Weir, Upper Barcoo River. 2. Flood warning has been issued for Sunshine Coast streams and Hinterland. 3. A wind warning is current for coastal waters between Mackay and Point Danger, including Hervey and Moreton Bays. 4. A severe weather warning has been issued for the SE coast overnight and for Sunday. STATE FORECAST for Saturday night and Sunday Rain areas on the SE coast, increasing overnight. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the tropics and in a band from the NW to the SE interior. Isolated showers across the southern interior. Showers generally about the east coaSt with freshening SE winds. Thunderstorm activity will extend further west into the Channel Country for tomorrow but decrease over the eastern interior. Rainfall increasing about the SE coast for Sunday with some heavy falls and strong to Gale force SE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Monday: The upper level low will drift over the central coast with thunderstorm activity increasing over the eastern interior. Isolated showers remaining in the west and across the south. Rain areas easing on the SE coast. Strong winds south of Gladstone and Gale Force winds south of Double Island Point. Tuesday: Thunderstorms will contract to the tropics with isolated showers remaining over the eastern half of the state. Showers increasing towards the east coast. Easing winds and weather on the SE coast. The outlook for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: Isolated showers over the eastern half of the state with thunderstorms about the Gulf coast and over western Cape York Peninsular for Wednesday. A new surface trough will enter the far west on Thursday with rain and thunderstorms. Isolated showers generally over the eastern half of the state. Winds will continue to ease along the east coast as the southern high weakens. Rain and thunderstorms spreading east on Friday with the next trough, becoming fine over eastern districts.
