Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

STATE FORECAST
for Thursday
Isolated showers about the northeast coast. Thundery rain areas over the Channel
Country and western border areas extending eastwards across southern Queensland
during the day. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing
northeast of the cloud band from the Gulf Country through to the Southeast
Coast. Moderate to fresh SE winds over the far northern tropics. Light to
moderate SE to NE winds elsewhere ahead of a moderate to fresh S to SE change
over southern parts during the day.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Friday: An upper trough will bring rain areas to southern parts, clearing the
southwest during the afternoon. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms northeast of
the cloudband from the Gulf Country through to the Capricornia. The high in the
Bight will extend a ridge along the Queensland coast and bring scattered showers
to the North Tropical Coast. Cooler, mainly moderate S to SE winds over central
districts and a fresh to strong S/SE change through southern coastal areas
during the morning.
Saturday: A high over southeastern Australia will extend a ridge along the east
coast, bringing fresh to strong SE winds and isolated showers along the east
coast, tending scattered about the North Tropical Coast. Showers will extend to
adjacent inland areas in the afternoon. An upper level trough will remain over
southern Qld and is expected to produce some patchy rain through central and
western areas reaching to between the Central Coast and Wide Bay districts.
Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the northwest and central
interior.
Sunday: A large high in the southern Tasman Sea will maintain fresh at strong SE
winds over the east coast with isolated showers in eastern parts, scattered
about the North Tropical Coast and about the southeast with the assistance of an
upper trough. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over northern and
western districts.
The outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: A high is forecast to move slowly
eastwards across the southern Tasman Sea, bringing further showers and fresh to
strong SE winds to the east coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms to
generally remain about northern and western districts.
