MELBOURNE - Oct 5/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Bellinger River. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Orara River at Glenreagh and Downstream. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Barwon River at Mungindi. Minor Flood Warning for the Warrego River. Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends ridge to New South Wales far north coast. The ridge will weaken during Wednesday as a cold moves into western NSW on Wednesday. The front, preceded by showers and thunderstorms will move through to the far northeast of the the state on Thursday. A high pressure system near the Bight will extend a ridge behind the front bringing mostly clear skies to western and southeastern parts while another weak trough is expected to develop over the far northeast on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Isolated showers coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered in the north and far south. Chance isolated showers and thunderstorms about the southern inland border districts. Southeast to northeast winds. Forecast for Wednesday Fine about central parts of the northern inland. Scattered showers on the north and central coasts and in the western and southern inland. Isolated showers elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms about the western and southern border regions. Northeast winds before a late southwest change in the southwest. Forecast for Thursday Showers clearing from the west and south and extending to the northeast. Chance early thunderstorms in the west and south, and developing in the afternoon in the northeast. Freshening, cooler southwest to southerly change extending throughout. Forecast for Friday Showers and a chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Mostly sunny over the remainder. South to southeast winds. Forecast for Saturday Isolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the Queensland border. Mostly sunny over the remainder. Southeasterly to easterly winds throughout.
