MELBOURNE - Oct 4/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Bellinger River. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Orara River at Glenreagh and Downstream. Minor To Moderate Flood Warning for the Barwon River at Mungindi. Final Minor Flood Warning for the Brunswick River Valley. Severe weather warning for flash flooding for the Northern Tablelands, Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast forecast districts. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Yamba and Port Macquarie. Weather Situation A small low has formed to the east of Yamba along the northern NSW coast. This is semi stationary and is directing a deep moist airstream along the northern coast south of Yamba, bringing continuing showers to the region, heavy at times. The trough and low should gradually weaken Tuesday and Wednesday. A strong, slow moving high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, extending a broad ridge to southern NSW. A weak trough will move into southwest NSW tomorrow then become slow moving for Tuesday before an active cold front reaches western NSW during Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of Monday Scattered shower on the northern and central coasts, continuing widespread and locally heavy about the northern Mid North Coast. Isolated showers about remaining eastern districts and along the southern border. Southeast to northeast winds, fresh on the north coast. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers in most districts, though scattered along the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated thunderstorms in the southwest. Southeast to northeast winds. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers in most districts, increasing to scattered along the northern and central coasts and in the western and southern inland. Possible thunderstorms in the west. Northeast winds before a southwest change in the southwest. Forecast for Thursday Showers and thunderstorms clearing from the west and contracting to the northeast during the day. Freshening, cooler southwest to southerly change extending throughout. Forecast for Friday Showers in the northeast. Fine over the remainder. South to southeast winds.
