MELBOURNE - Oct 3/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Bellinger River at Thora. Minor Flood Warning for the Brunswick River Valley. Minor Flood Warning for Coffs Creek at Coffs Harbour. Severe weather warning for flash flooding for the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast forecast districts. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Danger and Seal Rocks. Weather Situation A slow moving trough along the northern NSW/ southern Queensland coast is expected to deepen with a relatively weak low pressure system likely to form just off the coast early Monday morning. The trough and low should gradually weaken Tuesday and Wednesday. A strong, slow moving high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, extending a broad ridge to southern NSW. A weak trough will move into southwest NSW tomorrow then become slow moving for Tuesday before an active cold front reaches western NSW during Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of Monday Widespread showers on the north coast, locally heavy with thunder, easing later. Scattered showers about central parts of the coast. Isolated showers about remaining eastern districts and developing in the south. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the southwest. Mostly sunny remainder. Southeast to northeast winds, fresh on the north coast. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers in most districts, though scattered on the north coast. Isolated thunderstorms in the southwest. Southeast to northeast winds. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers in most districts, increasing to rain areas in the west. Possible thunderstorms in the west. Northeast winds before a southwest change in the southwest. Forecast for Thursday Rain areas over central and eastern districts, contracting further east.
