WARNING SUMMARY
Flood warnings are current for the Macintyre, Weir, Mackenzie, Comet, Belyando,
Upper Thomson and Barcoo Rivers.
A strong wind warning is current for the southeast Gulf of Carpentaria waters
for this morning.
A strong wind warning is current for coastal waters between Cooktown and Point
Danger, including Hervey Bay.
STATE FORECAST
for Thursday
Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the Cape York Peninsula and
northeast Gulf Country. Isolated showers along the remaining east coast. Fine
elsewhere. Moderate S to SE winds, becoming fresh to strong along the east coast
south of Cooktown.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Friday: The high over SE Australia will move eastwards into the Tasman Sea and
maintain fresh to strong SE winds along the east coast. Isolated showers about
the exposed east coast and some thunderstorms over western Cape York Peninsula.
Remaining dry over the interior.
Saturday: The high will persist over the eastern Tasman Sea and will strengthen
as a new upper trough moves into northern New South Wales. The high will
maintain a firm ridge along much of the east coast with fresh to strong SE winds
about the east coast north of St Lawrence. Little or no rain near the southern
border due to the upper trough passing over northern New South Wales. Fine
elsewhere.
Sunday: The large high will persist over the eastern Tasman Sea, maintaining a
firm ridge along much of the east coast and fresh to strong SE winds about the
east coast north of St Lawrence. Isolated showers continuing along the east
coast and adjacent inland areas with isolated afternoon storms over the western
Cape York Peninsula.
The outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: The large high will remain near
stationary over the Tasman Sea. This high will continue to direct moderate to
fresh SE winds and showers onto the east coast and adjacent inland areas.
