MELBOURNE - Sep 22/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY 1. Flood warning for the Warrego River and tributaries. 2. Flood warning for the lower Macintyre River. 3. Flood warning for the Mackenzie River. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Thursday and Friday Isolated showers and thunderstorms in a band from the NW to the western Darling Downs this afternoon. Thunderstorms increasing over the Central West this evening and developing to rain areas that will extend eastwards to the Capricorn and Burnett regions. Showers generally about the east coast. Little change in the pattern for Friday. Fine over the far SW. Moderate SE to NE winds; SE winds fresh at times along the northeast tropical coast. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Saturday: Little change from Friday, patchy rain continuing over central districts. Showers generally about the east coast and isolated showers and thunderstorms over the interior from the NW to the western Darling Downs. Maximum thunderstorms over the Central West in the evening leading to rain areas extending east. Sunday: A new upper level trough develops over western QLD but the overall weather is much te same from Saturday. The only difference is that thunderstorm activity extends into the SE district in the afternoon. The outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: A trough system moves across southeast Australia and Queensland during Monday and Tuesday. Further showers and thunderstorms over most of eastern Queensland, contracting to the northeast tropics on Wednesday. Showers continuing about the southeast and Capricornia coast on Wednesday as a fresh to strong S to SE change moves north along the coast as a large high moves across the Great Australian Bight.
