MELBOURNE - Sep 21/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY 1. A strong wind warning has been cancelled between Sandy Cape and Point Danger. 2. Flood warning for the Barcoo and Upper Thomson rivers and tributaries. 3. Flood warning for the Warrego River and tributaries. 4. Flood warning for the lower Macintyre River. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Wednesday and Thursday Isolated showers and thunderstorms over most of the interior this afternoon and evening, increasing towards the eastern interior with patchy rain with moderate falls. Showers generally about the east coast, tending to patchy rain on the Capricorn and Wide Bay regions. Fine over the far SW of the state. Little change in the weather across the state for Thursday. Mostly moderate to fresh S to SE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Friday: An upper level trough moves into western QLD from N.S.W but there is little change in the weather pattern across the state. Saturday: The upper trough moves through southern and SE QLD this ends the persistent rain on the Capricorn coast apart from clearing light rain in the morning. Showers and thunderstorms persist over most of the interior, showers about the east coast. Fine in the SW of the state. The outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday: The high pressure system moves over the Tasman Sea and maintains a ridge along the tropical to Capricornia coast with showers in the onshore airstream, more widespread in the north. Another upper trough enters the west of the state and helps maintain instability over eastern Queensland east of the inland surface trough, with further showers and isolated thunderstorms from the northwest to southeast interior.
