MELBOURNE - Sep 16/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Macquarie River at Warren. Minor Flood Warning for the Bogan River. Minor Flood Warning for Rural Areas along the Murray River at Barmah and Downstream and Edward River at Deniliquin. Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Montague Island and Gabo Island. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Perpendicular and Montague Island. Weather Situation A trough in the southern Tasman is moving east while a strong high centred southwest of the Bight extends a ridge over most of NSW. This will maintain generally fine conditions over the state for the next two days. Fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds along the southern coast and about the ranges will gradually ease as the high ridges eastwards over the weekend. A trough is likely to develop over the northern inland around Sunday and then deepen during the early parts of next week. It is expected to bring showers or rain periods, initially to the north, extending southwards by midweek. Forecast for the rest of Friday The chance of a little light patchy rain developing along the far northeastern border, otherwise fine, though partly cloudy over much of the state. Light to moderate south to southwest winds , tending fresh westerly about the southern and central ranges. Sea breezes developing along parts of the central and central coasts during the afternoon. Large swells breaking dangerously close inshore along the coast. Forecast for Saturday Possible isolated showers in the far southeast. Chance of late patchy rain over the far northern inland. Cloud increasing in the north and west. Mostly sunny over most of the remainder. Early frost patches on the ranges and western slopes. West to southwest winds, fresh about the central and southern ranges, tending southerly in the west. Afternoon sea breezes developing along parts of the coast. Large swells breaking dangerously close inshore along the coast. Forecast for Sunday Isolated showers or patchy rain in the north extending southwards to about the Hunter, and increasing to areas of rain in the northeast. South to southwesterly winds, tending northeasterly in the northeast. Forecast for Monday Rain areas in the northeast with isolated showers possible over much of the remaining northeastern third of the state.
