Weather Situation
A trough in the southern Tasman is moving east while a strong high centred southwest of the Bight extends a ridge over most of NSW. This will maintain generally fine conditions over the state for the next two days, with fresh to strong southwesterly winds along the southern coast and about the ranges. A trough is likely to develop over the northern inland around Sunday and then deepen during the early parts of next week. It is expected to bring showers or rain periods, initially to the north, extending southwards by midweek.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Isolated showers over the far southwestern slopes. Fine remainder. West to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the southeast. Large swells breaking dangerously close inshore developing along the southern and central parts of the coast.
Forecast for Friday
Fine, though partly cloudy in the northeast and along the Victorian border. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds. Large swells breaking dangerously close inshore along the coast.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers in the far southeast. Chance of late patchy rain over the far northern inland. Mostly sunny over most of the remainder. Early frost patches on the ranges and western slopes. West to southwest winds tending south to southeast in the west. Large swells breaking dangerously close inshore along the coast.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers developing in the north and tending to rain in the northeast. South to southwesterly winds, tending northeasterly in the northeast.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers in the north tending scattered over the far northern inland. South to southeast winds, tending northeasterly in the northeast.
