MELBOURNE - Sep 14/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Macintyre River at Boggabilla. Minor Flood Warning for Rural Areas along the Murray River Downstream of Tocumwal and Edward River at Deniliquin. Flood Watch for Central West NSW, Illawarra and South Coast. Severe thunderstorm warning for the Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands forecast districts Strong wind warning is current for Sydney Closed Waters. Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Smoky Cape and Point Perpendicular. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Danger and Smoky Cape. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Perpendicular and Moruya Heads. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Green Cape and Gabo Island. Weather Situation A complex low pressure system preceded by rain and isolated thunderstorms is moving across central NSW. The low will move over the Tasman Sea later this evening and deepen increasing winds along the coast before moving rapidly away from the coast later Tuesday morning and as the results winds along the coast should ease gradually. During Wednesday a high pressure system will move south of the Bight extending a ridge to the north coast and showers should clear. A cold front is expected to move through the far south during Thursday bringing isolated showers to the western slopes of the southern ranges. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Partly cloudy in the northwest. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms with possible local moderate to heavy falls elsewhere contracting east and clearing. Southwest to northwest winds tending easterly near the coast. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers on the western slopes of the ranges, clearing from the north. Early showers on the south and central coasts with possible local moderate to heavy falls. Snow showers developing on the higher Alpine peaks. Partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, strong near the coast. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow showers on the higher Alpine peaks. Partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, gusty in the southeast. Forecast for Friday Partly cloudy in the northeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds. Forecast for Saturday Partly cloudy. West to southwest winds tending south to southeast in the west.
