Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 14/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

WARNING SUMMARY
Flood warnings for the lower Macintyre Rivers.
STATE FORECAST
for Tuesday night and Wednesday
Isolated showers about the NE tropical coast. Isolated showers over the central
and SE interior this evening with possible thunder in the south ahead of a
clearing S'ly change. Moderate N/NW winds ahead of the change. Isolated
afternoon showers about the central coast Wednesday afternoon and over the NE
tropical coast. Dry over the remainder of QLD, cooler in the south with light to
moderate S/SE winds. .
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Thursday: Little change in the tropics, isolated afternoon showers across the
southern tropics to the central coast. Increasing high cloud across southern QLD
with patchy light rain in the far west as a upper level trough develops over
W.A.
The Friday: Patchy rain continuing across western and central QLD with
increasing showers over the eastern interior west of Moranbah. Showers will also
increase about the NE tropical coast with isolated evening thunderstorms and
showers developing on the NW coast of Cape York Peninsular.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday: As the upper level trough approaches QLD the rain
areas will increase over the NW, west and spread into the eastern interior
overnight Saturday. Showers continuing over the NE tropics generally. By Sunday,
rain areas generally over QLD, the heaviest over the Central West. Rain areas
will clear the far west later in the day. By Monday, rain areas contracting to
the eastern half of the state with the heaviest falls over the SE region.
