Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update
MELBOURNE - Sep 12/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Minor Flood Warning for the Macintyre River at Boggabilla. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Perpendicular and Gabo Island. Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-218* or through some TV and radio broadcasts. Weather Situation A weak high pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea is moving slowly east. A low pressure trough will move to western NSW and a cold front will reach the South Coast today with patchy rain developing over most of the state. A low is expected to develop within the trough and move across the state's south during Monday night and Tuesday with rain increasing in southern and central areas. Conditions are expected to clear over much of the inland by late Wednesday as a ridge begins to extend across from the west. Southeast parts of the state are likely to experience gusty conditions on Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front moves over the southern parts of New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of Monday Patchy rain developing through all districts and increasing about the southern and central inland with the chance of thunderstorms. Possible snow on the Alpine peaks. West to northwesterly winds tending fresh southerly along the south coast later. Forecast for Tuesday Rain areas contracting eastwards and clearing in the far west. Snow on higher parts of the Alps. Northwesterly winds turning southwesterly. Forecast for Wednesday Early patchy rain in the east, contracting eastwards and clearing. Isolated showers on the southern slopes, falling as snow on the Alps. West to southwesterly winds, strengthening in the southeast. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers on the southern slopes, falling as snow on the Alps. West to southwesterly winds, strong and gusty in the southeast, possibly reaching gale force over the elevated terrain.
