Middle to high cloud with little or no rain will occur over the south-west and west of the state. Fresh to strong SE winds will continue over the far northern tropics. Light to moderate SE to NE winds will occur elsewhere. Thursday: The ridge will weaken and move northwards as a new frontal system moves into the south-west late in the day. The upper trough will move into the Tasman Sea resulting in the cloud and rain band spreading eastwards and then contracting into central areas of the state by evening. Again some moderate falls are likely about the south-east of the state. The front will move off the southern coast during the late afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh NW winds will precede the change. Isolated showers will continue along most of the remaining east coast and the adjacent eastern interior. Cooler and drier S'ly winds will follow the change. The outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday: The cloud and rain band will dissipate over central Qld during Saturday before a new cloud and rain band spreads across southern inland border districts during Sunday and Monday. At the same time a high pressure system will move across southern districts during Saturday and sunday before a new frontal system which will move into the far south-west on Sunday and into the south-east of the state on Monday. Some showers and storms will occur on and near this front over eastern districts as the system moves into a moister N'ly airflow.
