MELBOURNE - Sep 4/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Final Minor Flood Warning for the Castlereagh River at Mendooran. Preliminary Minor Flood Warning for the Bell River at Wellington. Renewal Minor Flood Warning for Murrumbidgee River at Lobbs Hole and Mt Macdonald. Preliminary Minor Flood Warning for the Murray River at Barham. Moderate Flood Warning for the Murray River upstream of Lake Hume. Flood Watch for Saturday for the Murray, Murrumbidgee, Queanbeyan-Molonglo, Lachlan, Macquarie, Bogan, Peel, Gwydir and Upper Macintyre Valleys. Severe weather warning for damaging winds, destructive winds and blizzard conditions for the Snowy Mountains, Australian Capital Territory, South Coast, Illawarra, South West Slopes, Hunter, Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands forecast districts. Strong wind warning is current for Sydney Closed Waters. Storm force wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Perpendicular and Moruya Heads. Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Yamba and Point Perpendicular. Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Moruya Heads and Gabo Island. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Danger and Yamba. Warning to sheep graziers for the Riverina, Australian Capital Territory, South Coast, Illawarra, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands forecast districts. Weather Situation A deep low pressure system over Bass Strait is moving southeast to be southeast of Tasmania by afternoon and will then move rapidly towards New Zealand. Strong to gale force winds over southeastern NSW will ease and rain will contract to the far northeast corner of the state. Under the influence of an upper level trough isolated showers will remain during today and Monday over southern parts, tending scattered at first on the western slopes of the southern ranges. By Tuesday A high currentlly west of West Australia will become centered over Victoria, bringing fine conditions to most of the state, although the remains of the upper trough and south to southeasterly winds along the coast should lead to isolated showers along coastal parts. Forecast for the rest of Sunday Rain in the far northeast contracting further north during the day. Scattered showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, more isolated further north. Snow showers on the Alps. Showers developing in the far southwest. Mostly sunny along the southern and central coasts and partly cloudy over the remainder. Fresh west to northwest winds, reaching strong to gale force in the southeast, gradually easing. Forecast for Monday Early rain on the far north coast and adjacent ranges clearing during the morning. Isolated showers in the south. Cloudy periods elsewhere. West to southwest to southeast winds, becoming south to southeast along the coast.. Forecast for Tuesday Isolated showers about the coast and adjacent range tending scattered in the south. Snow on the Alps. Mostly sunny in the north and west. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers on the north and central coasts, contracting northwards. Patchy rain developing in the far west. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
