Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 3/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
Preliminary Minor Flood Warning for the Castlereagh River at Mendooran.
Flood Watch for Saturday In the Macquarie, Bogan, Lachlan, Queanbeyan - Molonglo and Murrumbidgee Valleys and Upper Western NSW.
Severe weather warning for damaging winds, destructive winds, flash flooding and blizzard conditions for the Riverina, Upper Western, Australian Capital Territory, South Coast, Illawarra, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Lower Western, Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands forecast districts.
Strong wind warning is current for Sydney Closed Waters.
Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Wooli and Gabo Island.
Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Point Danger and Wooli.
Warning to sheep graziers for the Snowy Mountains, Riverina, Upper Western, Australian Capital Territory, South Coast, Illawarra, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Hunter, Mid North Coast, Lower Western, Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands forecast districts.

Weather Situation
A deepening low near Adelaide will move through western Victoria today, bringing windy conditions and heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms over much of New South Wales, with the heaviest rainfall expected about the inland, and espescially over the southwestern slopes of the southern ranges and adjacent inland. The low is expected to move to the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday with showers lingering on the southern slopes and patchy rain in the northeast of the state. High pressure is then expected to move over southeast Australia on Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Rain west of the Divide with moderate to heavy falls likely, particularly about the South West Slopes. Rain areas over the remainder tending patchy on the north coast. The chance of isolated thunderstorms west of the Divide and in the northeast later today. Northeast to northwest winds becoming strong and gusty in many districts, reaching gale force in southern and western parts.
Forecast for Sunday
Patchy rain and possible isolated early thunderstorms over the northeast contracting further north during the day. Isolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges with snow on the Alps. Late showers developing in the far southwest. Fresh west to northwest winds, strong to gale force in the southeast but easing.
Forecast for Monday
Areas of rain over the northeast corner, clearing. Isolated showers over the southern half. Fine in the northwest. Southwest to southeast winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers about the coast and adjacent ranges, more frequent in the south. Snow on the Alps. Fine in the west. Southwest to southeast winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.
