MELBOURNE - Sep 2/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time Flood Watch for Saturday in the Macquarie, Bogan, Lachlan, Queanbeyan - Molonglo and Murrumbidgee Valleys. Strong wind warning is current for Sydney Closed Waters. Gale warning for New South Wales waters between Port Kembla and Gabo Island. Strong wind warning for New South Wales waters between Seal Rocks and Port Kembla. Warning to sheep graziers for the Upper Western, Australian Capital Territory, Riverina, Lower Western, Central West Slopes & Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Southern Tablelands and Central Tablelands forecast districts. Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by telephone 1300-659-218* or through some TV and radio broadcasts. Weather Situation Areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected to increase in the west today as a low pressure system deepens over South Australia. This low is expected to move through western Victoria during Saturday, bringing the potential for windy conditions and heavy rainfall over inland parts of New South Wales. The low is expected to move to the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday with showers lingering on the southern slopes and patchy rain in the northeast. High pressure is then expected to move over southeast Australia on Monday. Forecast for the rest of Friday Isolated showers in the east. Rain areas developing over the inland, with moderate to heavy falls in the far west later. Isolated thunderstorms over the northern and western inland. East to southeast winds tending northeasterly during the day and freshening. Forecast for Saturday Rain and possible thunderstorms west of the Divide with moderate to heavy falls likely. Rain areas developing over the remainder apart from just isolated showers on the north coast. Northeast to northwest winds becoming strong and gusty in many districts, possibly gale force about the southern and central ranges and south coast. Forecast for Sunday Patchy rain over the northeast contracting further north during the day. Isolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges with snow on the Alps. Late showers developing in the far southwest. Fresh west to northwest winds, strong to gale force in the southeast but easing. Forecast for Monday Areas of rain over the northeast corner. Isolated showers over the southern half. Fine in the northwest. Southwest to southeast winds.
