Widespread heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms in the northwest at night. Cool to mild with light to moderate easterly winds tending northeasterly and strengthening later. Forecast for SaturdayAreas of rain, more widespread with some heavy falls across the north and west, easing over the northwest later. Isolated thunderstorms . Cool to mild with strong and gusty northerly winds shifting squally westerly in the west later. Forecast for SundayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, isolated in East Gippsland. Snow above 1400 metres. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Cool with a strong and gusty northwesterly wind gradually turning westerly.
