Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds ahead of a south to southwest change in the south. Forecast for Thursday Partly cloudy in the north with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Patchy rain or isolated showers across the south, chiefly in the southeast. Snow about the alpine peaks. Warm north to northwest winds in the north, and cooler southerly winds in the south. Forecast for Friday Isolated showers in the east, scattered about the north coast and ranges. Rain areas in the west with the chance of thunderstorms in the far west. Southeast to northeast winds, increasing in the south and west. Forecast for Saturday Rain and possible thunderstorms west of the divide with moderate to heavy falls likely over the southern and central parts. Rain areas developing over the remainder apart from just isolated showers on the north coast. Late snow about the alpine peaks. Northeast to northwest winds becoming strong and gusty in many districts, possibly gale force about the southern and central ranges. Forecast for Sunday Patchy rain over the northeast. Isolated showers about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges with snow on the Alps. Fresh west to northwest winds, strong to gale force in the southeast but easing.
