Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 31/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Forecast for the rest of TuesdayCloudy with areas of rain in the west, extending eastwards. Moderate to fresh northerly winds.
Forecast for WednesdayAreas of rain extending throughout during the morning then contracting to the northeast later and falling as snow above 1600 metres later. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges to follow. Cool with moderate northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly from the west then easing later.
Forecast for ThursdayEarly rain in the northeast and the far north. Isolated showers in southern and mountain districts, gradually contracting to the coast and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Cool with a light to moderate southerly winds tending southeasterly.
Forecast for FridayIsolated morning showers about the coast. Areas of rain developing in the northwest during the morning then gradually extending south to most districts except Gippsland. Cool to mild with light to moderate easterly winds tending northeasterly and strengthening later.
Forecast for SaturdayAreas of rain, more widespread with heavy falls possible across the north. Cool with fresh to strong northerly winds shifting southwesterly in the west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.* Calls to 1300 numbers cost around 27.5c incl.
