MELBOURNE - Aug 31/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time: Nil. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A ridge of high pressure has maintained fine conditions across New South Wales today, although a trough of low pressure approaching from the southwest is expected to bring some patchy rain to southern districts on Wednesday. A trough will linger in the region through Thursday, with patchy rain again expected in the south, while the north may see some shower activity through the afternoon. Rain is expected to increase over the inland during Friday as a low pressure system deepens to the west. This low and an associated cold front will then progress to the Tasman Sea during the weekend, bringing the potential for very windy conditions and heavy rainfall, particularly over inland parts of New South Wales during Saturday. Forecast for Wednesday Cloudy in the south with patchy rain developing, falling as snow on the alpine peaks. Mostly sunny and warm in the north. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds ahead of a south to southwest change in the south. Forecast for Thursday Partly cloudy in the north, with the chance of showers or thunderstorms over the inland. Patchy rain or isolated showers across the south, chiefly in the southeast. Snow about the alpine peaks. Warm north to northwest winds in the north, and southerly winds in the south. Forecast for Friday Isolated showers along the coast and east ranges. Rain areas in the west, gradually extending to the southern and central ranges. The chance of thunder in the far west. Southeast to northeast winds, increasing in the south and west. Forecast for Saturday Rain and possible thunderstorms west of the divide, with patchy rain or showers reaching the coast later. Moderate to heavy falls likely over the southern and western inland. Northeast to northwest winds becoming strong and gusty in many districts, then turning southwesterly in the west. The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:15 am EST Wednesday
