MELBOURNE - Aug 30/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A high pressure system over northeast New South Wales is moving steadily east, although a ridge is maintaining fine conditions across the state. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure approaching from the west is expected to bring some patchy rain to the southern districts during Wednesday. This trough will linger in the region through Thursday, with patchy rain again expected in the south, while the north may see some shower activity through the afternoon. Rain is expected to increase over the inland during Friday as a low pressure system deepens to the west. This low and an associated cold front will then progress to the Tasman Sea during the weekend, with the potential for very windy conditions and heavy rainfall, particularly over inland parts of New South Wales. Forecast for Tuesday Mostly sunny in the north. Cloud increasing in the south. Northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening along the coastal fringe during the afternoon. Forecast for Wednesday Cloudy in the south with patchy rain developing over southern districts, falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Mostly sunny and warm in the north. Freshening north to northwest winds, becoming locally strong about the southern ranges ahead of a south to southwest change in the south. Forecast for Thursday Partly cloudy in the north, with the chance of showers or thunderstorms over the inland. Patchy rain or isolated showers across the south, possibly increasing in the southeast later. Warm north to northwest winds in the north at first ahead of cooler southwest to southeast winds extending throughout by midnight Forecast for Friday Isolated showers along the coast and east ranges. Rain periods in the west, gradually extending eastwards over the inland, possibly reaching the southern and central ranges by late evening. The chance of thunder in the far west.
