IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY A strong wind warning is current for coastal waters between Torres Strait and Bowen. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday Isolated showers about the east coast, and very isolated showers developing across the tropics generally in the afternoon. Possible isolated thunderstorms over Cape York Peninsula. Fine elsewhere. Moderate to fresh E to SE winds over northern Queensland. Light to moderate mostly SE to NE winds elsewhere. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Wednesday: The high moves further east over the Tasman Sea and weakens a little. Strong winds about the tropical east coast should contract to areas north of about Cairns and spread westwards into northeastern parts of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Isolated showers continuing about the east coast. Isolated showers developing in the western districts late in the day. Fine and warm elsewhere in the state, with light to moderate NW to NE winds over the interior, and light to moderate NE to SE winds about the coast. Thursday: The high continues to move only slowly eastwards, continuing the strong winds over the state's far north. Showers and thunderstorms now developing over the far SW of the state. Becoming fine over most of the tropics and through the interior. Isolated showers about the east coast. Fine and warm elsewhere in the state, with light to moderate NW to NE winds over the interior, and light to moderate NE to SE winds about the coast. Friday: Thundery rain over the SW should develop as a new upper level trough develops over S.A. Showers decreasing about the east coast as SE'ly winds weaken. Fine and warm elsewhere in the state, with light to moderate NW to NE winds over the interior, and light to moderate NE to SE winds about the coast. Saturday, Sunday, Monday: The thundery rain should extend from the west of the state across to the east coast as a band during Saturday and Sunday, with moderate falls possible in the Channel Country. Showers increasing about the east coast. The rainband should contract northwards and extend from the NW to the Wide Bay region by Monday, though isolated showers are still possible to its south.
