Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 25/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Gale warning for coastal waters between Port Kembla and Montague Island. Strong
Wind Warning for remaining coastal waters between Crowdy Head and Gabo Island.
Flood Warning for the Macintyre River. Severe Weather Warning for the Southern
Tablelands, Central Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast, the Snowy Mountains and
the higher ACT. Sheep Graziers Warning for Riverina, South West Slopes, Southern
Tablelands and Central Tablelands.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A complex low south of Tasmania is moving eastwards. Another cold front will
move over New South Wales tonight. Shower activity associated with this front
should be restricted to areas on and west of the tablelands, while the influx of
cold air in the upper atmosphere will assist in generating snow showers about
the central and southern ranges, extending to the Barrington Tops region during
Thursday night. Windy conditions will be a feature for many areas during the
next few days. By the weekend a high pressure system to the west is expected to
draw near, resulting in mostly fine conditions redeveloping across the state.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers about the ranges and adjacent western slopes and plains and
along the southern inland border. Showers tending more scattered on the western
slopes of the central and southern ranges and falling as snow to about 800
metres early in the south, and with sleet/snow on the higher parts of the
Central Tablelands and northern Southern Tablelands and possibly the higher
parts of the Northern Tablelands/Barrington Tops later . Freshening westerly
winds tending strong and gusty in southern and central parts,  possibly reaching
gale force about the southeast early morning.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated showers about the ranges and adjacent western slopes and plains and
along the southern inland border. Showers tending more scattered on the western
slopes of southern ranges and falling as snow above 1200 metres  about the Alps
and with  sleet/snow showers possible on higher parts of the Central Tablelands
and northern Southern Tablelands and possibly the higher parts of the Northern
Tablelands/Barrington Tops at first.  Fresh west to southwesterly winds.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers about the southern ranges and western slopes. Partly cloudy
over much of the remaining inland, but mostly fine. Mostly sunny along the
coast. Southwest to southeasterly winds.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers about the coastal fringe north of about Newcastle. Mostly sunny
over much of the remainder. East to southeasterly winds.
