Meanwhile a weak ridge of high pressure lies across New South Wales ahead of a cold front, which will move across the state tonight and Wednesday. Shower activity associated with this front should be restricted to areas on and west of the tablelands, while the influx of cold air in the upper atmosphere will assist in generating snowfalls about the central and southern ranges. Windy conditions will be a feature for many areas during the next few days, becoming more widespread during Thursday as another cold front crosses the state. By Friday a high pressure system will approach from the west, and appears likely to restore generally clear conditions across the region through the weekend. Forecast for Tuesday evening Isolated showers on the western ranges and adjacent slopes, becoming scattered in the south tonight. Snow showers on the southern ranges lowering to about 1100 metres overnight. Fresh westerly winds, strong to locally gale force about the southern and central ranges. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers on the western slopes of the ranges and along the southern inland border, becoming scattered on the southwestern slopes of the ranges. Showers falling as snow to about 1000 metres about the Alps, and possible sleet or snow on the higher parts of the Central Tablelands. Freshening westerly winds, strong and gusty in the south, and locally gale force about the southeast early morning. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers about the ranges and adjacent western slopes and plains and along the southern inland border. Showers tending more scattered on the western slopes of the central and southern ranges and falling as snow to about 1000 metres in the south, and possible sleet or snow on higher parts of the Central Tablelands. Freshening westerly winds becoming strong and gusty in southern and central parts. Forecast for Friday Clear about the far west, and along the coast. Isolated showers elsewhere, possibly scattered at first about the ranges and western slopes. Fresh west to southwesterly winds. Forecast for Saturday Clear, apart from isolated early showers about the southern ranges and western slopes. Southwest to southeasterly winds. The next routine forecast will be issued at 7:00 pm EST Tuesday
