Red Meat Production Down From Year Ago
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 3.96 billion
pounds in July, down 4 percent from the 4.12 billion pounds produced in July
2009.
Beef production, at 2.23 billion pounds, was 2 percent below the previous
year. Cattle slaughter totaled 2.90 million head, down 1 percent from July
