Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 19/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers about the southwest coast and the dividing range and isolated showers developing elsewhere. Snow showers down to about 700 metres in the morning but rising to 1000 metres in the afternoon. Local hail on and south of the ranges and isolated thunderstorms near the Gippsland coast. Cold with fresh westerly winds, stronger about the coast and higher ranges.
Forecast for SaturdayIsolated showers mainly on and south of the ranges contracting to the coast late in the day. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to locally fresh westerly winds.
Forecast for SundayIsolated showers in the far southwest and on the dividing range but dry elsewhere. Local early frost or fog in the north. Cool with light to moderate northwest to northerly winds, fresh in the southwest.
Forecast for MondayScattered showers developing in the north and west with the chance of late thunderstorms. Isolated showers developing elsewhere with Alpine snowfalls. Cool with moderate north to northwest wind tending westerly later in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.* Calls to 1300 numbers cost around 27.5c incl.
