Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 19/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A trough is moving through the northeast. Rain associated with the
trough in the northeast should clearing there during Friday. During
Friday a cold front will sweep across the state behind the trough,
with some shower activity likely to linger over the southern inland
through to Saturday. A high will then move across the state in the
wake of the front. On Sunday another trough system approaching from
the west will bring cloud and rain to the northwest during the day,
reaching the northern ranges late in the day. This rain or shower
activity will then extend to most areas early Monday before
contracting east during the day.
Forecast for Friday
Rain areas in the northeast, clearing during the day. Isolated
showers over the ranges and western slopes contracting to the south.
Isolated showers developing over the southern inland. Showers falling
as snow in the south above 1000 metres. West to southwest winds,
fresh to strong and gusty at times about the ranges and coast south
from the Hunter.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers about the southern ranges and slopes, and over the
southern inland in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow about the
Alps. A mostly sunny day elsewhere. Light winds in the north tending
moderate west to southwesterly in the south, fresh about the ranges.
Forecast for Sunday
Rain developing in the northwest during the day, extending across the
north to the northern ranges late in the day. Patchy rain developing
in central parts. Northwesterly to northeasterly winds.
Forecast for Monday
Areas of rain or showers, contracting east during the day.
Northeasterly to northwesterly winds, tending west to southwesterly
in the west.
