Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high pressure system is passing over New South Wales today,
promoting stable atmospheric conditions with generally light winds.
The fine weather will be short-lived for many areas, however, as the
next cold front is expected to move through western and southern
parts during Wednesday, continuing to the northeast on Thursday.
Windy and rainy conditions will accompany this front, with the best
falls expected to be along the tablelands and western slopes
districts. Some shower activity is likely to linger over the southern
inland on Friday as another high pressure system drifts across from
the west.
Forecast for Tuesday
A cool morning with areas of frost and fog. Mostly sunny day.
Moderate southwesterly wind about parts of the coast at first,
otherwise generally light winds.
Forecast for Wednesday
Areas of rain developing in western parts of the state during the
morning, extending to central and southeastern inland parts later in
the day while clearing in the far southwest. Snow developing on the
Alpine peaks later. Freshening north to northwest winds, becoming
strong and gusty in the south and west.
Forecast for Thursday
Rain areas across the north. Showers over much of the remainder,
clearing from southern parts of the coast and the western inland.
Snow on the Alps, mainly about the peaks at first. Northwesterly to
southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty at times.
Forecast for Friday
Rain areas in the northeast, clearing. Isolated showers over the
southern inland, falling as snow on the Alps. West to southwest
winds, gusty along the southern ranges.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 11:20 am EST Tuesday
