Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 16/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers with local hail on and south of the ranges, contracting towards the coast tonight. Showers falling as snow above 700 metres. Isolated showers over the northern plains clearing this evening. Southwesterly winds gradually easing.
Forecast for TuesdayWidespread morning frost and isolated fogs, particularly over northern and western districts. Isolated showers near the coast and across Gippsland, contracting eastwards and clearing towards evening. Partly cloudy in the south. Mainly sunny across the north. Cool to cold with light wind tending moderate northerly over the west during the afternoon.
Forecast for WednesdayCloudy with rain areas extending eastwards across the state although only patchy light rain developing in Gippsland. Snow developing above 1500 metres. Isolated thunderstorms developing over the northwest during the afternoon. Cool with northwest to northerly winds strengthening to reach gale force about most southern and elevated areas.
Forecast for ThursdayScattered showers, mostly over southern and mountain areas and snowfalls lowering from 1500 metres in the morning to 800 metres by the evening. Cold with fresh to strong northwest wind tending westerly.
Forecast for FridayScattered showers mainly about the southwest coast and about the eastern ranges and falling as snow above 800 metres but rising to 1000 metres. Dry over the northwest plains. Cool to cold with fresh west to southwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.* Calls to 1300 numbers cost around 27.5c incl.
